Barn Quilts of Douglas County

Barn Quilts of Douglas County, Washington is an all-volunteer group affiliated with the Waterville Main Street Association, with the mission of creating county-wide and heritage-honoring projects that will reflect the county’s appreciation for our agricultural economy, draw visitors into our county and positively impact the local economy.  

A Barn Quilt is a 2’x2’, 4’x4’, 6’x6’, or 8’x8’ painted quilt block on MDO signboard mounted on the gable end, side of a barn or mounted on posts and is easily visible from the road. The family selects the quilt block designs that signify the stories and heritage of their farm and/or family.  A Barn Quilt Trail is a self-guided driving tour of the Barn Quilts, points of interest and historical landmarks, that will educate visitors, story by story, of our rich agricultural history.
